Donate to support the physician leaders of the future.
Thalamus.org provides funding to medical students fromsocioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, including medical students of color, to apply to and interview for residency. We are committed to improving the process, so that it is fair and accessible to all students.
How we help?
1) Financial Assistance Program.
Thalamus.org provides grants, similar to scholarships or fellowships, and related means of financial assistance to medical students from communities of color and low socioeconomic status navigating the transition from medical school to residency.
Costs to apply to residency include application costs, travel costs, and other miscellaneous costs (computers, professional dress, etc.). It is critical that students be able to afford these costs because their chances of matching into a residency program are correlated to the number of interviews completed.
2) Promote research Initiatives, innovation and DEI in the residency recruitment process.
Promote research Initiatives, innovation and DEI in the residency recruitment process. Thalamus.org collaborates with leading research organizations to examine key factors affecting application and match outcomes. This also has greater implications on the future physician workforce. Efforts also focus on lobbying, public policy and grassroots projects to promote change.
